Wilder Trips

I’ve mentioned before that I used the Wilder Trips app to plan out trip to France and I thought it might be useful to others to share a bit more about the app.

The developer is Harry Ronchetti and he and his wife love road trips but couldn’t find a tool to plan their trips and keep all the trip information in one place. As a developer by trade, he thought he’d take on the challenge himself. We met Harry at one of the Caravan & Motorhome shows at the NEC and decided to try out the app ourselves. I’m so glad we did!

This is our trip to France:

As you can see, the route is clearly mapped out with the stopping places. You can see the distance between each stop and likely travel time. We found it invaluable as it made it very easy to be flexible about our route and how long we would stay in each place.

I love that when, for instance, you put in the name of a campsite the drop down box gives you a link to Google maps. You can also add more information and links in the notes box.

I’ve also started a new itinerary for when we return in the spring. Harry has added a new feature where you can add a point of interest to the map, without having to add it to the itinerary:

I’m finding this a great way to add possible places to visit based on other people’s recommendations. (Many thanks to all who contribute to the Motorhoming in France group with their experiences.) As you can see, I’m going to have great fun planning our trip for next year.

If you want to know more go to www.wildertrips.com, Harry is very responsive and welcomes ideas to make the app even better – just to be clear I’m not getting paid for this review, I hope you find it useful.
