We had a couple of days free, so decided to go to Cannock Chase CCC site. It’s only about an hour from where we live so off we went. Arrived early and were told we could park in the car park till check-in time and use the facilities if we wished. We set off for the first of our long walks from the site and arrived back in time to check in and park up. After a much needed lunch break we set off again and walked up to the Iron Age ring fort.

We managed to take a couple of wrong turns as the printed directions given to us by the site were not very clear, but we finally made it to the fort. What a view from up there! We had clear blue skies and it was really warm.

Next morning we devised our own circuit walk and 8 miles later and another hike up to the ring fort we got back to the site. It was so warm we sat outside enjoying a cuppa and late lunch. We could only squeeze in 2 nights away so next morning we drove to the Cannock Chase country park for another walk in the woods. We spent a delightful couple of hours there before heading off for home and out for a meal to celebrate Tim’s birthday!

A lovely few days away and highly recommend the site.
