Eating to get pregnant

Eating to Get Pregnant

The second in the series “How to Get Pregnant”, this book gets down to the nitty gritty of changing your diet to improve your fertility. If you’re struggling to put into action recommendations to “change your diet” or “eat more healthily”, then this book is for you. Lois takes you right back to the basics of eating a natural healthy diet and gives you guidance on:

  • Your essential kitchen equipment
  • The Golden Rules of eating
  • Store cupboard essentials
  • The best and worst cooking methods
  • The key emphasis of the book is on:
  • Alkalising your diet so you get your body back to the right PH level.
  • Keeping your blood sugar levels stable.
  • Providing all the nutrients needed for optimal fertility.
  • Making your diet varied and interesting.
  • Over 100 varied recipe ideas

Lois de-mystifies the Gl and GL indexes and shows you which foods will blow your blood sugar levels to pieces. She shares with you the value of juicing and growing your own superfoods before moving on to the fertility boosting recipes:

  • Brilliant Breakfasts
  • Luscious Lunches
  • Delicious Dinners
  • Scrumptious Snacks
  • Tasty Treats

With recipes to suit fish, meat eaters and vegetarians, you’ll find plenty of choice. The recipes are all based around the theories of alkalising your diet and keeping your overall carb consumption for a day within the 40 to 50 GL range. You’ll find tasty fertility boosting recipes such as:

  • Chickpea curry
  • Chocolate brownies
  • Mango, avocado and smoked chicken salad
  • Moroccon chicken breasts
  • Orange and almond cous cous salad
  • Salmon and cherry tomato bake
  • Stuffed baked peppers

to name just a few. All of the recipes are shown in American cup and UK measures. Lois encourages you to mix and match recipes as you please, if you don’t like something, don’t feel you have to eat it. You’ll find different options in some of the recipes. When cooking she rarely sticks exactly to a recipe, seeing it as a guideline and says you should feel free to do the same. Above all she encourages you to enjoy your food and remember that what you put in your mouth becomes you and your unborn child.

A personal note from the author:

I’ve seen first-hand the stress and heartache that infertility can cause. My desire to help couples get pregnant led me to first produce a guide book for my fertility patients. Then I started recording relaxations to give them, so they could listen at home. As couples changed their diets, made changes to their lifestyles and reduced their stress levels I noticed the success rates going higher and higher. Patients would often tell me that they had shed surplus weight and felt better than they had in years, with more vitality and lower stress levels. Little wonder that so many get pregnant naturally! Many would jokingly say “can I come and live with you for a week so you can teach me how to cook and eat well”. It was from this plea that the second book in this series came into being. Eating to Get Pregnant will, I hope, transform your eating habits in an enjoyable and effortless way.
